has to start somewhere
has to start somewhere
Man is greedy- it takes no great mind to come to that conclusion. Power is addictive; anyone with it would agree. And men, with power, are dangerous when trying to keep it.
Theres a question as to where the Seekers first came from; some say they were created right alongside man in the beginning. Others claim they are really humans that have lost their souls. But all agree that they are constantly searching, drawn to power and control. They are lost, violent individuals that cluster in leaderless groups, often attacking any human they find alone. Throughout the ages, they were seen as pests and as dangers, but while eradication efforts failed, the Seekers were not seen as a monumental threat.
Until Man saw opportunity.
The first man to reign control of a hoarde of Seekers was a spellweaver by the name of Barodin, who used his newly claimed army to seek out more power. For nearly a decade he reigned as a tyrant of fear, as none could oppose an army that felt no pain, knew no anguish or terror. It was only when others discovered his secret that his seat of power teetered and fell to another rising dictator. Soon, his name was insignificant among the many that battled for power. These hated, feared men were named Captors, and their only enemy became one another as the people they controlled withered away beneath them.
It was then that peculiar things began to happen. Children were receiving strange gifts from the great creatures of the world and, with a new companion and power, rose to challenge the Captors and their armies. Unorganized but determined, they combined what small, untrained strength they had to level the playing ground. When the first pairs of humans and creatures banded together, the Captors were pushed back to only half of the lands. These saviors were named Guardians, and under their shadow, there was prosperity.
One of the first Guardians to emerge was a man by the name of Revelin, and he had the wisdom to begin training the young warriors-to-be in their youth, so that they may be able to fight back. He provided a sanctuary for them, seeing as many of those that had received an egg were assassinated by Captors. And, under his watch, both school and students began to grow.
It is a dark age in which the Guardians-to-be live; the land is split between the freed lands and those of the Captor's shadow. Seekers are always roaming, and traps set for their murder are always set. Outside Revelin's walls, the world is a crumbling, torn place.
The place each one of them is charged to protect.
